ABOUT GRADY he/him

Grady is a choreographer whose work has been seen around the world and across many different mediums. He has been recognized for his versatility and ability to adapt to any project's specific needs.

His approach is one of broad strokes first and working from the outside in with a belief that the overall composition and storytelling should come before the "choreography" or steps that color in the piece. His philosophy is that every human being is a dancer and that creating a picture with a diversity of body size, shape, color, and gender makes for a more interesting, honest, beautiful, and truer depiction of the world we live in.

Grady just completed his 4th commission for NC School of the Arts in which he conceived, directed and choreographed a new 20-minute work to music by Grammy Award-winning artist Jacob Collier and featuring 30+ dancers.

Favorite choreography credits include Finale Co-choreographer ofTHE CHER SHOW on Broadway; BIG APPLE CIRCUS at Lincoln Center; WORLD'S GOT TALENT on Hunan TV in China; and Olney Theatre Center's production of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN for which he received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography.

Grady worked as Associate Choreographer to Chris Gattelli (Tony Award-winner: Newsies) on several projects including off-Broadway's Dogfight, In Your Arms at The Old Globe, and a NY developmental lab of Top Hat. He has additionally worked as Associate Director on Big Apple Circus, A Night with Janis Joplin, and with the incomparable Julie Andrews on The Great American Mousical at Goodspeed Opera House.

In his previous life as a performer, Grady was in the original Broadway companies of BILLY ELLIOT, SOUTH PACIFIC (2008 revival), HONEYMOON IN VEGAS, WONDERLAND, and THE PIRATE QUEEN. He toured internationally with FOSSE and PILOBOLUS DANCE THEATRE and also appeared in the films FORREST GUMP and THE LAST FIVE YEARS.
